Night train to Poland.

If I was to be fully truthful. I should admit that I was dreading this night train. It sounds all romantic and all, I know. But my past night train experiences have wiped out all the pleasant images in my head. So I was nervous. Turns out, when you expect the worst, it's not so bad. I slept like a baby. No problem. Nate, not so much, and he's a little grumpy right now so I'm going to let him snooze. We got in at 6:24am. We dropped our bags at the hotel, but nothing is really open yet and we can't get into our room for a while. So I thought I'd upload a few Prague pics while I have some quiet time and wifi.

The soap in our shower was anise scented. We smelled like Good 'n Plenties when we got out.

Us below the beautiful cathedral at Prague Castle.

The top of our street in the Castle District.

American goulash. Nate swapped the dumplings for fries. I stuck with my salad.

A display at the communist museum. Great museum by the way. Nothing slick about it. But they covered a lot of information and displayed it in a way that was easy to take in.

Old Town Square.

Czech pastry. I forget the name. Chimney something. This was the best Czech pastry I ate. I know my expectations are a little high having just come out of pastry school, but this was delicious. I've been really disappointed by all the other pastries I've had in the Republic. All seem bready and bland.
This, however was soft in the middle, with a sweet crispy outside.

They're cooked on the BBQ. Maybe that makes all the difference.

More beer. And blankets are provided for outdoor seating.

This isn't a pastry, but this was delicious. A griddle cake with blueberry sauce and sour cream.

 I guess it was alright.

The inside and outside of the National Museum. We took in a concert here. It was lovely.

Walking across the Charles Bridge. This romantic historic bridge is beautiful. However, day time hours resemble Disney World. It's mad. Evening strolls are much better.

Overall Prague was fantastic. We stayed in the Castle district and I would do so again. It's not as touristy as the Old Town. It's beautiful and pretty quiet in the evenings. We frequented the cloister brewery up the road a few times. The beer is fantastic, and everything we ordered was well done. One of my favorite things about traveling is all the great food to discover. However, when you're new to a city, finding good place to eat is always a gamble. But we had good luck in Prague. We were well fed. My shrinking jeans prove it.

Well that's about it for now. Turns out our room is ready early, so we're gonna go shower up and wander around Krakow. Wonder what the pastries taste like here....

A glimpse...

...of what Nate and I have been up to so far.

Dried sausages in Strasbourg.
Nate couldn't resist. He fell for the 3 for 10 deal.
And I couldn't resist a photo op.
This man loves his sausages. (Nate too.)

Gargoyle on the Notre Dame de Strasbourg.

Flying buttresses!

Strasbourg through the cathedral.

And on to Munchin.....
The lucky boar in
Munchin's old town.

The Virgin Mary and new town hall in Marienplatz square.

The new town hall from the top of St. Peterskirche.

Quetche in Viktualienmarkt.
This is the fruit that turned my fingers purple at the patisserie.

Red goose eggs at Viktualienmarkt.
The market has been selling all kinds
of wonderful food and treats since 1807.

Anise decoration. I love this scent. I've learned
however, that Nate does not. Guess he won't like
the anise biscuits I'm gonna make when we get
back. Aldo has a fantastic recipe I'm trying to
track down.

Beer as big as your head.
In this case, Nate's head. One whole litre!
Goodbye Munchin....
Breakfast in Germany, lunch in Austria and dinner in the Czech Republic.

Our very nice train leaving Germany.
First class gets you an OJ and KitKat bar.
View from our high speed train to the Czech republic.
This was somewhere in Germany.

As our trains changed. So did our views.
Snow in Austria. I was secretly happy
we left the powder behind us.

The Czech Republic is still green for now.

Local local train to Czesky Krumlov.

Getting closer.

We made it. This was our view the
first night as we strolled the streets.

Turns out there's beer in the Czech Republic too.

My delicious salad.

Nate's saucy meat and loaf of steamed bread.

Pretty city.

Everything was painted to look like stone, or molding or
something more ornate than the flat surface that was reality.

Chesky Krumlov.

Walking up to the castle gardens.

Local beer. Not the same as the American brand.
This one tastes much better.

Our favorite place to eat.

Another view. This castle is very photogenic.

So that's it for now... better get back to wandering.
